There is a considerable gap linking human dimensions and marine ecosystem services with Sustainable Development Goals, one of these issues relate to differing perspectives ideas around concepts development. also lack contemporary evaluations coastal communities from developing nations under the lens wellbeing social vulnerability indexes. This study contributes that discussion by presenting an analysis Brazilian municipalities, based on two indexes: The Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) Municipal Human (MHDI). These indicators intend map some aspects well-being development in territory different perspectives. MHDI illustrates average population conditions certain for humans thrive, while SVI points more specifically assets necessary territory. main aims are inequalities between municipalities indexes provide critical view reinforcing importance considering natural capital as key issue wellbeing. Both were developed data Institute Geography Statistics Census 2010, most recent available municipalities. Overall, 65.9 78% total 387 assessed ranked below country values, respectively. indicated higher Southern than Northern ones, especially income education conditions, showing large heterogeneity discrepancies among within regions. combined approaches local socioeconomic improvements, measured SVI, optimization seems essential improvements communities’ quality-of-life conditions.
